A Passage to India
The Bay Area Council on March 4 welcomed newly-appointed Indian Ambassador to the United States Harsh Vardan Shringla on his first trip to the Bay Area at an executive breakfast hosted by Council member Infosys. In a wide-ranging discussion, members and guests heard about India’s economic priorities, opportunities for overseas companies to engage, and the importance of partnerships in the Bay Area. The breakfast was part of the Council’s India Focus program, which aims to build stronger ties between the Bay Area and India, which is seeing economic growth of over 7 percent and is now the world’s fifth largest economy.
The next event for India Focus will be on April 25, when the Bay Area Council Economic Institute will release a new report on the economic and other ties linking the Bay Area with India. Recognizing the importance of the report to the process of building closer ties, Ambassador Shringla will be returning to the Bay Area to participate in the program.
