Council Sponsors Housing Legislation to Address Missing Middle
State lawmakers are working furiously to push a suite of housing legislation encompassing over 200 bills and secure endorsements ahead of committee hearings. The Bay Area Council is proud to sponsor AB 1485, authored by Assembly Member Buffy Wicks. Still taking shape, the legislation aims to deliver CASA Element #7 and will encourage much needed mixed-income housing and help fill the wide “missing middle” gap. To get technical, AB 1485 will provide CEQA streamlining for zoning-compliant projects that provide onsite affordability and prevailing wage. Offsets will include CEQA statutory exemption with a one-year local discretionary project review process and other financial incentives.
The Bay Area Council supports many of the housing bills under development, and we encourage you to attend our next Housing Committee Meeting on April 17th to learn how you can engage in the Council’s housing policy work. Please contact Policy Director Xiomara Cisneros>>
