Bay Area Council Names Its 2019 Regionalist of the Year
The Bay Area Council applauds Bay Area legislators for their hard work in advancing policies in the Capital to improve our region. Each year at its Sacramento Day, the Council bestows its coveted Regionalist of the Year Award to a Bay Area legislator who has played a leadership role in working to address some of the challenges we face in the Bay Area.
On Monday, Bay Area Council Chair Bernard J. Tyson, Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente, presented the Council’s 2019 Regionalist of the Year Award to Senator Scott Wiener for his leadership as Chair of the State Senate’s Housing Committee and hard work in working to solve our region’s housing and homelessness crisis. This year Senator Wiener has authored SB 50 which will remove regulatory barriers in locating housing near transit. This important bill is strongly supported by the Council and will significantly increase the supply of much needed housing in the Bay Area and throughout California. The Council thanks Senator Wiener for his regional leadership.
