New SFO-Tel Aviv Flights Highlight Strong Bay Area-Israel Connections
Underscoring the strong and growing connections between the Bay Area and Israel, El Al Israel Airlines this week began new non-top service between San Francisco International Airport and Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. The new service, which will include three flights a week to Tel Aviv on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and three flights a week to SFO on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, was highlighted during an event Bay Area Council CEO Jim Wunderman attended with Bay Area dignitaries, business and community leaders. The new flights add to service that United Airlines also provides between SFO and Tel Aviv.
The event also featured the announcement of a new global partnership between El Al and Council member Alaska Airlines, which will give Alaska fliers the opportunity to earn Mileage Plan miles on El Al flights. The Consul General of Israel for the Pacific Northwest joined the CEOs of both airlines in making the announcement, and Alaska Airlines also presented at $10,000 check to the Contemporary Jewish Museum to support free K-12 educational programming. “Through our partnership, both EL AL and Alaska Airlines offer frequent flyer benefits to our guests while sharing the genuine, caring service that is at the heart of both of our airlines,” Alaska Airlines CEO Brad Tilden said.
