Senate Clean Drinking Water Proposal Gets Councils Nod

The Bay Area Council Water and Climate Resilience Committee met on Tuesday to vet competing proposals in the state Assembly and Senate to solve California’s clean drinking water crisis. Today, an estimated one million Californians lack access to clean drinking water—ten times the population of Flint, Michigan. Following presentations from guest speakers Assemblymember Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica) and Cindy Tuck from the Association of California Water Agencies, the Committee voted to endorse the Senate proposal, which creates a $150 million continuous appropriation for a new clean drinking water fund administered by the State Water Board.
