Bay Area Council Goes ‘All-In’ to Combat Homelessness
The Bay Area Council this week joined with Tipping Point Community and a phalanx of business, community and philanthropic organizations to launch the All-In Campaign against homelessness. A primary goal of the initiative is to secure 1,100 homes for individuals experiencing homelessness in 11 supervisorial districts in San Francisco by 2021. The new initiative comes just months after a seminal report by the Bay Area Council Economic Institute that details the Bay Area homeless crisis, its root causes and the importance of providing permanent supportive housing.
A number of Bay Area Council members are helping lead the campaign, including AT&T, Airbnb, San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, San Francisco Giants, Google, Dignity Health, Lyft, Postmates, Verizon Wireless and the San Francisco 49ers. This diverse coalition of businesses, community-based organizations and advocacy groups will leverage their influence to scale efforts that combat homelessness. The campaign also aims to engage and educate residents through digital outreach, events and field activities, and media to generate support for solutions that address homelessness.
