New Analysis: ADUs Are Good for Your Health

Accessory dwelling units (ADUs) are good for your health, according to a new analysis by the California Budget & Policy Center. The analysis looked specifically looked at SB 13 (Wieckowski), legislation the Bay Area Council is supporting that would ease regulatory and other barriers to building ADUs, aka granny units, and provide an amnesty for unpermitted ADUs to become compliant. The benefits of SB 13 would come from expanding the supply of affordable housing for lower- and middle-income residents, who often suffer the greatest health impacts from the stress and insecurity of California’s stratospheric housing costs.Read the Health Note on SB 13>>
