744 Housing Units Win Initial OK Behind Council Support
Housing-starved San Francisco moved a step closer to adding 744 new units Thursday (Sept. 5) when the San Francisco Planning Commission gave unanimous approval to a project the Bay Area Council has endorsed. The Council testified in support. The mixed-use development proposed by Prado Group for 3333 California St. would include 25% on-site affordable homes for low-income seniors—exceeding the city’s 18% requirement—an onsite child care center for 175 children and more than five acres of parks and open space.
Although community members pushed to postpone the Commission’s decision, supporters unified in their message that housing delayed is housing denied. The Council is proud to endorse this well-designed, high-quality project, and we’ll be back at City Hall in November when the project goes to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for approval. If you’d like to demonstrate your support, sign the petition and watch out for our action alerts as we approach the next hearing date. If interested in getting your project reviewed, please contact Policy Director Xiomara Cisneros.
