Employer Input Key to Effective Career Technical Education Programs

As a leader in workforce development in the region, the Bay Area Council has been asked to serve on California’s Career Technical Education (CTE) stakeholder group. The CTE stakeholder group is organized by the California Workforce Pathways Joint Advisory Committee (CWPJAC) and aims to build connected, equitable, accessible, and high-quality K-14 college and career pathways for all students throughout the state. The Committee is currently developing the state plan for CTE, which integrates technical and occupational knowledge into a student’s education, preparing them with job-specific skillsets for careers in high-demand fields.

The Council’s Workforce of the Future team underscored the value of leveraging business and industry input to ensure educators are up to date with current and future demands in the workforce.  Additionally, the Council emphasized the importance of a more flexible and adaptive education system, which is able to respond in a timely fashion to needs identified by employers.
