Future of Work: How Employers Are Adapting to Changing Needs

The future of work is upon us, and how employers adapt to changing needs in the workforce will be critical in maintaining the Bay Area as the best place to live and work in the world. This week, members of the Workforce of the Future Committee examined ways they are changing their hiring process, and growing internal upskilling programs to prepare for this. A discussion with industry experts – Jacqueline Barrett (LinkedIn), Derry Moten (East Bay Municipal Utility District), and Erika Webb-Hughes (Pearson) – honed in on the growing importance of training employees with soft skills to help them advance throughout their careers. Ashley Goldsmith, Chief People Officer at Workday, highlighted Workday’s continued growth and the importance of adapting to rapidly changing technology during a fireside chat with Bay Area Council President and CEO Jim Wunderman.
