Inclusive San Jose Housing Project Wins Council Endorsement

A San Jose housing complex that includes a mix of market rate, workforce, affordable and deeply affordable units near transit got a big thumbs up from the Bay Area Council’s Housing Endorsement Committee. The Kelsey Ayer Station also sets aside units for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The project came at the recommendation of Council member Sares Regis, which is partnering with The Kelsey, a nonprofit with the mission to advance inclusive housing for those with and without disabilities, to build the 115-unit complex. The project is also the first to be awarded funds from $1.5 billion that Council member Google has pledged to help fight the region’s affordability crisis.

With less than 12 percent of people with developmental disabilities able to own or rent their own home, the Council is excited to support our members as they demonstrate innovative new housing strategies to advance inclusive communities.
