Speeding Up Key Hwy 101 Infrastructure Project
Work on a project to replace a critical segment of Highway 101 in San Francisco that the Council played a role in coordinating will be accelerated under a plan Caltrans has announced. The start time of the U.S. 101 Alemany Project has been moved up from July to April to take advantage of reduced traffic from COVID-19. The Council partnered with Caltrans throughout the project planning process for the Alemany Deck Replacement in an effort to minimize traffic congestion and commute times for the Bay Area community during this construction.
By acting quickly to expedite this work, Caltrans will be able to complete this vital infrastructure project with less delay for drivers. This expedited timeline will also contribute to the Bay Area’s ability to get back to ‘normal’ productivity levels as we see a return to work, bolstering the economy and our communities.
