ICYMI: Is China Getting Back to Business?
As part of the Bay Area Council’s continuing series of webinars on various aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we talked recently with Kyle Freeman about the steps China is taking to reopen its economy. Freeman is a partner at Dezan Shira & Associates in Beijing. Kyle shared his insights on China’s work-resumption process, the unique challenges different industries are facing, what government policies are having an impact, and on-going epidemic control measures. The Council has long worked at a subnational level to promote an open exchange of ideas and solutions for addressing mutual challenges.
The discussion explored how manufacturing supply constraints evolved into demand constraints as the COVID-19 pandemic spread across the globe, resulting in a flattening of the economic recovery curve and the freezing of business activity at 80% of the pre-COVID benchmark. Freeman also gave us an one-the-ground perspective of how recovery policies have affected their clients business as employees return to work.Watch the full version of the virtual forum here>>
