Council Endorses Projects Proposing 1,700 New Homes
Three development projects that include a combined almost 1,700 units of housing this week earned the endorsement of the Bay Area Council Project Endorsement Subcommittee. Sares Regis is proposing 60 townhomes in Redwood City at the gateway to Bair Island. The development would provide 15% affordable units at the moderate-income level. The site is currently a dilapidated old industrial site and promises to beautify the area with a new public access boardwalk connecting to the bayfront. The committee also endorsed a major mixed-use proposal by Shea Properties dubbed At Dublin that includes 500 homes and apartments, nearly 200,000 square feet of retail and restaurants and a hotel. And finally, Avalon Bay and Bridge Housing got a thumbs up for a project at the former Balboa Reservoir near the City College of San Francisco that includes 1100 new homes – half of which would be deed-restricted affordable housing. All projects are home runs, and the Council is excited to welcome these new homes into the region. If you are a resident of Redwood City, Dublin or San Francisco and want to show your support for these projects as they go through the public review and approval process, please contact Policy Director Xiomara Cisneros. Hearings will begin this summer.
