Member Spotlight: Year Up Launches Initiative to Connect Diverse Talent to Contact-Tracing Jobs
Year Up is launching a new initiative to ensure contact tracing jobs are going to those in our community who are most impacted by COVID-19. Year Up’s Community Tracer Corps (CTC) is a new integrated solution for states, cities, and counties looking to scale up their contact tracing workforce. Built on Year Up’s 20-year history of recruiting diverse talent and training them for successful careers with Fortune 500 companies, the CTC helps expand testing capacity across the country to trace the trail of the coronavirus exposure. Contact tracing jobs offer stabilizing wages, are in high-demand, and require both technical and professional skills. Communities of color significantly impacted by COVID-19 have skillsets that position them to leverage local knowledge, language skills, and community capital to do contact tracing jobs uniquely well. What they might not have – in an applicant pool of thousands of people – is an opportunity to quickly signal their talent, motivation, work ethic, and fit for the 300,000 contact tracing jobs needed across the country.
