ICYMI: Council and Pearson Team Up for Webinar Examining the Power of Hidden Bias
Unconscious biases are underlying qualities, attitudes, and stereotypes attributed to certain groups based on prevailing views and norms in society. The real-world consequences of these biases often effect teams and organizations in negative, unproductive ways. The Bay Area Council and Pearson partnered to explore these topics by hosting a webinar yesterday, part of a series of continued conversations building off the Council’s and Pearson’s January event: Building the Future of California Talent Symposium.
Bay Area Council Policy Associate Leslie Alfaro discussed unconscious bias, how it affects everyday decisions – in life and at work – and ways to address it to build more diverse and inclusive teams with speakers Marina Della Giusta, Professor of Economics at University of Reading (UK); Lady Idos, Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab; and Dr. Frida Polli, CEO, pymetrics.
