California High Speed Rail Shares Progress and Updates
The Bay Area Council Transportation Committee this week (July 28) welcomed California High Speed Rail Authority CEO Brian Kelly, who provided an update on the system’s progress statewide, 2020 Business Plan, Central Valley construction, and advances in Northern California. Joined by Boris Lipkin, the Authority’s Northern California Regional Director, Kelly described significant progress this year, with construction of 350 miles of electrified rail under development and environmental clearance on significant project segments advancing. COVID-19 has also had an impact on the Authority’s plans, extending comment periods for environmental documents, delaying adoption of their business plan, and impacting projected revenues from upcoming cap and trade auctions.
