Council Backs More Workforce Funding in Next Federal Stimulus Bill
The Bay Area Council has joined with members Autodesk and Workday to advocate for including additional workforce funding in any future federal stimulus package to address the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. In a letter to Congress, Autodesk and Workday call for more resources for training and reskilling workers, strengthening partnerships, providing tax incentives for industry, educators, and non-profit organizations and investing in quality short-term training.
To expand support for the letter, the Council has helped to secure signatures from a broad coalition of member companies representing diverse industry sectors including technology, construction and education. Additional federal funding for workforce development will be essential to bridging the digital divide, reconnecting workers who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19, and ensuring the workforce has the support it needs to adapt to changing workforce needs.
