Bernard J. Tyson Impact Fund Announces First Investments
The American Heart Association this week announced the first 10 organizations that will receive investments from the Bernard J. Tyson Impact Fund to shatter social and economic barriers to health equity. The announcement was featured in a column that appeared this week in Fortune magazine. The fund was founded by Denise Bradley-Tyson, who also serves as Chair, in partnership with the American Heart Association to honor her late husband’s mission over 35 years to address the health inequities that plague the U.S. health care system and disproportionately impact under-resourced communities. Bernard served as Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente from 2013 until his sudden death in 2019 and was Chair of the Bay Area Council from 2016-2018.
