Council Says “Whoa!” To New Taxes in Latest Ad
The Bay Area Council this week unveiled the third in a series of hard-hitting video ads to bring attention to the harmful impact that a dizzying array of new and proposed general taxes will have on California’s ability to recover from one of the worst economic downturns in generations. The ads, which have run more than 7 million times across a range of digital media platforms, are part of broader campaign the Council is leading that is also reaching residents through their mobile devices and inviting them to join the effort.
There are more than 30 general tax measures on the Nov. 3 ballot in cities across the Bay Area and hundreds more across the state. With millions of jobs lost, thousands of businesses closing, millions of families struggling, and many companies and top leaders considering a move out of California, now is not the time to raise taxes. Election day won’t spell the end of these tax proposals. We’ll also be working in the coming months to defeat legislation that proposes even more taxes in the coming year. Help us keep the campaign going by making a financial contribution today.
