Council Honors Business, Philanthropic Leadership at 25th Anniversary Business Hall of Fame
The Bay Area Council this week (Nov. 17) honored three incredible business and philanthropic leaders at the 25th Annual Bay Area Business Hall of Fame presented by Kaiser Permanente, which also featured timely conversations with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.
Our Hall of Fame honorees this year included Dr. Susan Desmond-Hellmann, the biotech and life sciences pioneer who served as Chancellor of UC San Francisco; the Trefethen Family for their role over three generations in leading industrial giant Kaiser Industries and later giving rise to the Napa Valley as global winemaking destination; and, Bernard J. Tyson (posthumous) who served as CEO of Kaiser Permanente and was one of the most influential and powerful healthcare leaders in the country and a leading champion for racial equity and justice.

Business Hall of Fame Chairman and Sunset Development Company Chair Alex Mehran led the conversation with Fed Chair Powell, who talked about his outlook for the economy, the imperative for bringing COVID under control, and what tools the central bank has at its disposal to restart the economy.
