Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla credits the Bay Area Council for her interest in early childhood education
Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla, who currently Chairs an Assembly Select Committee on High Quality Early Education, credited the Bay Area Council’s 2009 report, Key To Economic success in the 21st Century: Investment in Early Childhood Programs, as the catalyst for her interest in the issue. Speaking at the Committee’s first hearing in Concord recently, Assemblywoman Bonilla praised the report, and invited the Bay Area Council’s Matt Regan to be the first presenter to the new committee.
The Select Committee met last month and attracted over 100 people to hear about all aspects of early education and in particular the roll out of California’s new transitional kindergarten program, which the Bay Area Council also supports. Senator Joe Simitian, the author of SB 1381, the transitional kindergarten legislation also thanked the Bay Area Council for our work in the early education field and for our support of transitional kindergarten.
