Partner Spotlight: Revolution Foods
More than 11 million children in the U.S. live in food insecure homes, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Unfortunately, at-risk communities are also the most likely to be further impacted by the pandemic. Many food insecure families rely on the free or reduced-price meals their children receive through school or community organizations. With many schools and after-school programs across the country closed for the foreseeable future and nearly 13 million people unemployed, an essential element of the COVID-19 response is bridging the food access gap for low-income families. The Bay Area Council is proud to have been an early investor in Revolution Foods almost two decades ago through our Bay Area Equity Fund, which was a pacesetter among social enterprise funds.
The Feeding Good Project is a partnership between Revolution Foods and Multiplier, a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Feeding Good directly funds healthy, high-quality and delicious meals for low-income and food-insecure households in the Bay Area and across the country. Together we are committed to ensuring that communities who were already struggling with food insecurity prior to the pandemic have dignified access to meals with the highest nutrition, ingredient and culinary standards. In coordination with school partners, community organizations and other world-class nonprofits, the Feeding Good Project ensures families remain well-nourished during these difficult times.
Each tax-deductible donation directly funds free meals for communities in need. Every $5 donated can fund a meal for a food-insecure adult. The Feeding Good Project can earmark donations for specific communities (for place-based funders) or can allocate funds to the highest-need communities that the Project has identified.
The Bay Area Council is proud support the Feeding Good Project. With tens of thousands of food insecure families identified across the Bay Area, we are helping the Feeding Good Project to raise $2 million to provide 400,000 healthy meals to 100,000 families in underserved areas of San Francisco, the East Bay, the Peninsula, Marin and the South Bay in partnership with schools and community-based programs.
