Member Spotlight: Siemens Supports Feeding America
In partnership with Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger relief organization, the Siemens Foundation recently announced it is donating $600,000—the equivalent of 6 million meals–to address the growing issue of food insecurity. With these funds, Feeding America member food banks will distribute more meals to people in need in Atlanta, Chicago, Malvern, PA, Orlando, Sacramento, and Washington, DC.
In a message accompanying the announcement, Siemens USA President and CEO Barbara Humpton and Siemens Foundation CEO David Etzwiler wrote: Our new partnership with Feeding America supports the Siemens Foundation’s ongoing commitment to advancing economic, social, and racial justice, including by narrowing gaps in access to quality and affordable services that have contributed to the growing inequities we see a year into the pandemic. Not everyone has the high-speed internet necessary to work or learn from home. Clean drinking water is no longer a guarantee in numerous places. And many households experiencing food insecurity do not qualify for federal nutrition programs.
