Partner Spotlight: CEO Action for Racial Equity
Launched in October 2020, CEO Action for Racial Equity is a first-of-its-kind, business-led fellowship initiative that uses the power and speed of CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ signatory organizations to help forge equitable pathways for more than 47 million Black Americans. This fellowship, representing more than 100 of CEO Action’s signatory organizations, mobilizes a community of business leaders with diverse expertise across multiple industries and geographies to advance public policy in four key areas — healthcare, education, economic empowerment and public safety. Its mission is to identify, develop and promote scalable and sustainable public policies and corporate engagement strategies that will address systemic racism and social injustice and improve societal well-being.
CEO Action for Racial Equity recently announced the eight issues on its agenda for advancing policy change. Across the country, the fellowship will look at how to address these issues at the local, state and federal levels—from cities to rural communities, offices to classrooms, and healthcare networks to criminal justice systems.
In five cities, CEO Action for Racial Equity will pursue a place-based approach that connects to local stakeholders and embraces community solutions for advancing the fellowship agenda. Through this place-based approach, fellows will listen, learn, mine the data, and look for local opportunities that align with 1-2 issues on the fellowship’s agenda. The first city in this place-based approach will be Oakland, California.
CEO Action for D&I signatories have the opportunity to become more engaged with the fellowship in four ways:
- Providing a fellow or government relations/policy support
- Joining monthly calls with a specific solution team to learn more
- Connecting the fellowship with various partnership/relationship opportunities
- Joining the CEOARE Advisory Network
