Statement on Gov. Newsom’s Recall Victory
The Bay Area Council today (Sept. 15) issued the following statement on the resounding defeat of an effort to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom.
“Thank goodness that’s over! Voters made very clear this misguided and costly recall election was unnecessary and unwarranted, and only served to distract us from California’s real priorities,” said Jim Wunderman, President and CEO of the Bay Area Council. “As we shake the bonds of COVID-19, we must turn our attention immediately to getting our economy and state fully and safely reopened, accelerating the creation of new jobs and addressing the monumental challenges of housing, homelessness, drought, wildfire and climate resilience, and wealth disparity that we face. With the election now behind us, the Bay Area Council is committed to continuing to work with Gov. Newsom and his administration on these challenges and realizing California’s incredible promise and potential.”
