Housing the Middle: Council Sponsors Conversation on Affordable Housing Solutions
The Council was proud to sponsor Housing the Middle: Bay Area Affordable Housing Solutions, a provocative, solutions-oriented conversation with practical thinkers and visionary collaborators at work to turn this region’s housing crisis into an opportunity to accelerate our economy and house our workforce. The in-person event, hosted by the San Francisco Business Times, was held today (March 18) at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco.
Speakers—including Bay Area Council Senior Vice President, Public Policy, Matt Regan; Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguín, Holland & Knight Partner (and Council Executive Committee Member) Jennifer Hernandez; Housing Action Coalition Executive Director Todd David and others—focused on creative financing strategies, scalable solutions, and policies that address the needs for affordable housing for families, teachers and other essential workers. Matt Regan provided the business community’s perspective for why affordable housing is so important: without it, the Bay Area cannot attract and retain a sufficient workforce to maintain the longterm sustainability and health of our economy.
