Show me the Money; Bay Area Competes for Federal Transportation Largesse

From electrifying Caltrain to extending BART to San Jose, the Bay Area is lining up its top transportation infrastructure projects to compete for $100 billion in federal funding available under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) Legislation Committee last Friday (March 11) approved a set of regionally significant transportation projects that align with the Biden Administration’s focus on climate, mobility, and equity.

The Bay Area Council has been a vocal proponent of unifying the region’s advocacy around a short list of projects that will help our Congressional delegation go to bat for Bay Area projects and make the region much more competitive against other major metro areas around the country. The draft list of projects is slated for adoption by the full MTC Commission on Wednesday, March 23.
