Member Spotlight: Year Up Bay Area Honors Bank of America-Silicon Valley Market
This month, Year Up Bay Area presented The Cornerstone Award to Bank of America – Silicon Valley Market to honor their dedication and support as a champion, philanthropic supporter, and corporate partner. The Cornerstone Award is bi-annually awarded to an organization or individual in recognition of their work in closing the Opportunity Divide and helping young adults gain access to the economic mainstream.
“As a longtime partner of Year Up Bay Area, we are proud to have been honored with the Cornerstone Award. I personally was energized by the enthusiasm and professionalism of the over 70 graduates at the event. These confident young people carry with them so much optimism – they truly are the basis of our hopeful economic future and workforce,” said Raquel González, Bank of America Silicon Valley president.
Year Up’s mission is to close the Opportunity Divide by ensuring that young adults gain the skills, experiences, and support that will empower them to reach their potential through careers and higher education. The Opportunity Divide is the gap between young adults seeking jobs and companies seeking talent, Year Up addresses these challenges by implementing workforce development programming that meets the needs of both individuals and employers.
Each of our program models provides technical and/or essential skills training, work-based experiences with local employers, and robust wraparound supports. To date, Year Up has served more than 42,500 young adults and welcomed 27,100 graduates to our National Alumni Association.
