Council-Backed Housing Bills Move Forward

Housing,
The Bay Area Council’s housing bills are all doing well as the Legislature holds its first round of hearings. This week the Assembly Housing Committee met and moved forward the following bills that the Council is co-sponsoring:
- AB 1114 (Haney) will end San Francisco’s unique discretionary post-entitlement permits.
- AB 1287 (Alvarez) will bolster the state’s density bonus law and ensure it applies to the Coastal Zone.
- AB 1633 (Ting) will close the gap between the Housing Accountability Act and the California Environmental Quality Act, protecting projects from being denied for frivolous reasons through the environmental review process.
Vice President of Public Policy Louis Mirante delivered testimony in support of these bills. To engage in the Council’s housing policy work, please contact Vice President Louis Mirante.
