Council Applauds New California-Australia Climate Partnership
Just a few weeks after his top environmental secretary helped lead the Bay Area Council’s business delegation trip to Australia, where we focused on clean energy technologies and projects, Gov. Gavin Newsom this week joined Australia Ambassador to the U.S. Dr. Kevin Rudd in signing an historic memorandum of understanding between California and Australia to partner on a range of climate initiatives. The MOU outlines five years of cooperation between California and Australia on clean energy, clean transportation, clean technologies, nature-based solutions, climate adaptation, green finance and investment and circular economy.
California Natural Resources Secretary Wade Crowfoot joined Council CEO Jim Wunderman and Council Chair Kristina Lawson, Managing Partner of Hanson Bridgett, in leading the Council’s week-long visit to Australia to learn about clean technology and climate change solutions across a variety of industry sectors and explore new opportunities for expanding trade and investment in these areas. Wunderman attended the MOU signing ceremony in Sacramento.
