NBA All-Star Week Coming to the Bay Area
With world leaders getting ready to descend on San Francisco and the Bay Area for a major weeklong summit (see below), the region got more good news this week when the NBA announced San Francisco and the Golden State Warriors’ Chase Center will host All Star Week in 2025. Warriors owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, 2018 inductees into the Bay Area Council’s Business Hall of Fame, joined team President and COO Brendan Schneider, San Francisco Mayor London Breed and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver in making the announcement, which will bring thousands of fans to the region for a week of exciting events and a wave of economic activity. Council CEO Jim Wunderman attended the announcement ceremony, sitting with Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao and San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan.
“We say we’re the Bay’s team, but we like to show it,” said Schneider, who serves on the Bay Area Council’s Executive Committee. “To be able to say we’re going to host events here at Chase Center but there are great venues in Oakland and other parts of the Bay Area, so to be able to integrate that and be part of the special weekend was really, really important to us and to our fans, quite frankly.”
It wasn’t the only good news for the region, with Salesforce also announcing this week that it will bring its Dreamforce developers conference back to San Francisco in 2024.
