Kelly Cure
Vice President, Public Policy
Kelly is Vice President, Public Policy focusing on the future of work, workforce development and education. She joins the Bay Area Council with 17 years of global work experience spanning a variety of sectors. In 2019, during her MBA program at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, she founded and launched Skillful.ly – the equitable employment platform, as a VC backed Public Benefit Corporation, which she led for 4 years before stepping down to advise the company externally. Much of Kelly’s workforce background centers on connecting candidates from historically marginalized populations with higher quality employment for the future.
Kelly’s previous work experience spanned Europe, the UK and Africa, where she started as a management consultant with Deloitte before launching her entrepreneurial journey. She’s founded two businesses, both still in operation today and enjoys guest lecturing for visiting global entrepreneurial groups and at UC Berkeley each semester.
In her spare time Kelly choreographs and teaches dance, she’s a competitive trail and ultramarathoner and served as a commissioner on Oakland’s Public Safety and Services Violence Prevention Oversight Commission.
