Successful Sacramento Day 2025
Yesterday (March 5), the Bay Area Council, led by Chair Kristina Lawson and CEO Jim Wunderman, held its highly anticipated Sacramento Day 2025, bringing together business leaders, policymakers, and lobbyists for a day of impactful discussions. The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers and panelists who addressed California’s most pressing challenges, including housing affordability, transportation modernization, public safety, and artificial intelligence.
Highlights included remarks from Nathan Barankin, Chief of Staff to Gov. Gavin Newsom, on wildfire recovery and economic growth strategies; Assemblymember Buffy Wicks on permitting reform (see item below); and Sen. Josh Becker, who was honored as Regionalist of the Year for his leadership in advancing clean energy and tackling homelessness. Engaging panel discussions included “Women in the 3rd House,” moderated by Donna Lucas, and “Artificial Intelligence and the Road Ahead,” led by Samantha Corbin with industry experts.
Other notable remarks covered critical topics such as urban revitalization by Assemblymember Matt Haney, transportation priorities by Assemblymember Lori Wilson, and public safety strategies by Sen. Jesse Arreguin. Sen. Tim Grayson shared insights on housing solutions and manufacturing competitiveness.
The day concluded with a vibrant evening reception at Ella Dining Room & Bar, fostering connections among attendees.
