Holiday Greetings from the Bay Area Council and 4th Graders at Oakland’s Achieve Academy
The Bay Area Council wishes you all a very happy holidays. And we look forward to another exciting year working with you to make our region and the state a better place to live and work. One of our annual traditions is our Holiday Art/Marketing competition, in which 4th grade students at Oakland charter school Achieve Academy create and submit artwork as part of a seven-week business unit. This project, now in its 4th year, has an important impact on the students, introducing them to product development and marketing, and culminating in a field trip to visit Bay Area Council members, where finalists see firsthand how businesses are run, meet successful executives and gain valuable experience. This year’s contest has again resulted in some impressive work, with drawings by three students being selected for the cover of the Bay Area Council’s holiday cards. In all, 20 students were recognized for their work and will participate in our field trip in early 2013.
The Bay Area Council offices will be closed during the week of Dec. 23 and will reopen Jan. 2, 2013. From all our members and staff, enjoy a safe, happy holidays.
