TRANSFORMING WORKPLACE CULTURE: THE 2015 GENDER EQUALITY PRACTICES
For a second year, the Bay Area Council was pleased to partner with the San Francisco Department on the Status of Women on its annual program featuring participants in the 2nd Gender Equality Principles Challenge held today (Jan. 30) at the Charles Schwab Corporation. This award-winning, groundbreaking program helps organizations achieve greater gender equality in the workplace through implementation of seven Gender Equality Principles.
San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee welcomed guests and emphasized how San Francisco is setting an example for promoting friendly workplaces. He noted that empowering women is a key ingredient to success. San Francisco Board of Supervisors President Katy Tang and Supervisor Scott Wiener highlighted the importance of partnerships with employers and female mentorship in the private sector. Leading Bay Area companies then discussed what they are doing to support women and families in the workplace—including Bay Area Council members AT&T, Latham & Watkins, Lee Hecht Harrison and PG&E.
