FLOODING + WETLAND RESTORATION POLICY OVERVIEW
California’s climate is famously volatile, with seasons of devastating floods separated by years of remorseless drought. The Bay Area Council Water Committee brings together the region’s top employers, engineers, water agencies, and environmental stewards to develop research and policies to increase the Bay Area’s resilience to sea level rise, extreme storm events, and increase the Bay’s environmental health. In 2015, the Bay Area Council Economic Institute released Surviving the Storm, which estimates the region could face more than $10 billion in economic damages in a 150-year storm event.
