COUNCIL READY AS LEGISLATURE RETURNS FOR FINAL SESSION

As the Legislature prepares to reconvene Monday (Aug. 17) for its final session of 2015, the Council is poised to continue its advocacy in Sacramento on a number of key bills. The Council is working to secure amendments to SB 32, which would create aggressive new interim goals for reducing California’s greenhouse gas emissions. The Council met with bill author Senator Fran Pavley’s office and other legislators to advocate for making the amendments to mitigate negative impacts to our economy and job creation.

The Council also will be focused on passing legislation (AB 57) to expedite the delivery of wireless communications infrastructure; winning approval of a critical traffic relief bill by Assemblymember Marc Levine to reopen a third lane on the congested Richmond-San Rafael Bridge; and, passing a bill by Senator Hannah Beth Jackson (SB 670) to provide employers with a tax credit to provide onsite childcare. In addition, the Council has been extremely active in participating in the Special Legislative Session to answer Governor Brown’s call to identify $6 billion annually for statewide transportation improvements.
