CA-CHINA TRADE OFFICE Joins US-CLIMATE LEADER SUMMIT IN LA

As announced by the White House, the California-China Office of Trade and Investment (CTO) stood alongside powerful partners at this week’s (Sept. 16) official launch of the California-China Urban Climate Collaborative (CCUCC). A new initiative between ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the Asia Society, the Bay Area Council and the CTO, the CCUCC supports a dynamic, long-term exchange between cities in California and China seeking to reduce carbon and air pollution while advancing the clean energy economy. Whereas all the partner organizations will provide technical assistance to assist policy makers in climate change action planning, the CTO specifically will provide the bridge to the private sector, connecting city leaders with companies developing the technology that could provide solutions to the cities’ most pressing emissions challenges. The launch caps the US-Climate Leaders Summit, a two-day event in Los Angeles keynoted by Vice President Joe Biden earlier this week resulting from the US-China Joint Announcement last November on Climate Change by Presidents Obama and Xi.
