BAY AREA COUNCIL CELEBRATES SINGAPORE’S GOLDEN JUBILEE
This past Tuesday Bay Area Council Members in Sacramento were invited to private dinner with Ambassador Ashok Kumar Mirpuri, Ambassador of the Republic Singapore to the United States of America, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Singapore’s independence. Singapore is known around the world for it business friendly policies and is the 12th largest export market for California. In 2014, California exports to Singapore totaled nearly $4.6 billion. In addition to celebrating Singapore’s golden jubilee there were extensive discussions with the Ambassador about bi-lateral trade and investment between California and Singapore and the recently negotiated Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). Both Singapore and the USA are members and signatories on the trade pact. The Council supports TPP and urges Congress to ratify the trade deal.
