KOREAN WAR MEMORIAL SITE UNDERWAY IN THE PRESIDIO
The Bay Area Council is pleased to support the Korean War Memorial Foundation (KWMF) as it advances its mission to build a permanent memorial to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War. The San Francisco Bay Area was chosen for the memorial site because it was the embarkation point for so many who went off to fight.
KWMF achieved a major milestone this summer when it broke ground in the Presidio. With major landscaping and construction underway, the new Korean War Memorial will commemorate the sacrifices made by all those who fought in the war, educate future generations, and serve to strengthen the close political and commercial ties that connect the United States and the Republic of Korea. The Memorial will stand prominently in the Presidio looking westward across the Pacific Ocean toward the now prosperous and Democratic Republic of Korea.
