Forum Highlights U.S.-EU Cooperation on AI, other Tech Issues
The Bay Area Council was honored on July 14 to host a policy dialogue with Didier Reynard, the Commissioner for Justice of the European Union. Discussion covered the new EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which Commissioner Reynards negotiated, as well as the EU’s proposed AI Act and broader issues around data privacy and regulation. Trans-Atlantic data flows are the largest in the world and maintaining an open environment for the movement of data is critical to Bay Area and U.S. companies. The meeting was attended by senior privacy and global policy representatives the region’s leading technology companies.
The Council’s collaboration with the EU builds on a recent report by the Economic Institute and EIT Digital, released in San Francisco and Brussels in May, on the importance of greater technology cooperation between the United States and Europe.
