Council Announces New Partnership to Deepen Board, Executive Diversity

Despite years of hard work, women and communities of color continue to be underrepresented in the highest echelons of business leadership. Today, the Bay Area Council announced a new partnership with the Silicon Valley Leadership Group on its Pledge 25×25 to deepen and expand diversity in boardrooms and executive ranks. Council CEO Jim Wunderman joined Leadership Group CEO Ahmad Thomas during the Leadership Group’s Diversity Forward Summit to make the announcement and share their thinking on the many benefits to organizations and the economy overall of promoting greater diversity at the top levels of leadership. Under Pledge 25×25, companies have the option to pledge that by 2025 at least 25% of their leadership will be comprised of underrepresented individuals (persons of color and women) or the number of underrepresented individuals in leadership will increase by at least 25%.
