Council Hosts Discussion with Congresswoman Barbara Lee
The Bay Area Council was honored to welcome Congresswoman and U.S. Senate candidate Barbara Lee aboard the Klamath for a discussion with our members on a variety of timely issues. During a conversation moderated by Council CEO Jim Wunderman, we delved into various critical topics, including our regional transit systems and the best opportunities currently before Congress to address homelessness and housing affordability in the Bay Area.
Representative Lee has proudly represented Oakland and the Bay Area in Congress since 1998. She is a senior member of the powerful Appropriations Committee, which controls the federal purse strings, where she serves as the ranking member of the subcommittee on state, foreign operations and related programs. She also represents the Appropriations Committee on the House Budget Committee, and chairs or co-chairs a number of important House caucuses.
The Council is a nonpartisan public policy organization that does not endorse candidates in elections. We regularly convene briefings and meetings with a wide range of elected leaders on topical public policy issues.
