Assemblymember Buffy Wicks Appointed Housing Committee Chair
California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon this week (Dec. 7) appointed East Bay Assemblymember Buffy Wicks Chair of the Assembly Housing Committee. Since her election in 2018, Assemblymember Wicks has been a staunch housing advocate committed to proposing meaningful reforms to address our state’s severe housing shortage. The Bay Area Council advocated for Assemblymember Wicks’ appointment as Housing Chair and applauds Speaker Rendon on this decision.
Just last week, Assemblymember Wicks joined the Bay Area Council’s Board of Directors for an in-depth discussion focused on next steps for winning more housing reforms. The Assemblymember also met with the Council’s Housing Committee in early November to share similar insights. The Council looks forward to our continued partnership with the Assemblymember and supporting important housing reforms coming through the Assembly Housing Committee next year.
