Bay Area, San Francisco and Klamath Shine During Successful APEC Week
What a week that was! San Francisco hosted what was by all accounts a very successful APEC Leaders Summit. The Bay Area Council was involved from the get-go. We co-wrote the application to bring APEC to San Francisco, and helped raise an estimated $4-5 million from our members, including $1 million contributions each from Council members MEBO and CEO Kevin Xu and Sutter Health and CEO Warner Thomas, to help the city pay for the event. And yes, there were events with Biden and other heads of state that the Bay Area Council attended, but we also transformed our floating headquarters aboard the historic Klamath into a bustling showcase of our region’s business community.
We hosted presidents and top ministers. We convened forums on clean hydrogen, artificial intelligence, sustainable aviation fuel, venture capital and innovation, corporate and board diversity, tourism, autonomous vehicles, food technology, and healthcare innovation. And every night we held parties that were fun, welcoming and as beautiful as San Francisco itself. We had thousands of people come through.
Thank you to Sutter Health for being our title sponsor, thank you to all of our other sponsors, thank you to our incredible speakers, and thank you to the thousands of attendees. You did the Bay Area and California proud.
