End of an Era for the SF Business Times as Publisher and Visionary Leader Mary Huss Announces Retirement
After an illustrious 30-year career as head of the Bay Area’s preeminent business news publications, Mary Huss this week (Jan. 9) announced she is stepping down in May. Huss served as Chair of the Bay Area Council from 2019-2021, leading the organization through one of its most challenging periods with the COVID pandemic raging, and also spearheading the Council’s move to its new headquarters aboard the historic Klamath along the San Francisco waterfront.
From her start in 1991, Huss guided the San Francisco Business Times from a fledging publication to one of the region’s most respected and prominent news outlets, later adding the Silicon Valley Business Journal to her leadership portfolio. Huss was an innovator, introducing new sections and leading the expansion of a prodigious events business. And she coupled her keen business drive with a passion for philanthropy and community service. The Council extends its deepest gratitude to Mary for her leadership and commitment to San Francisco and the entire region.
