Juan Sánchez Muñoz Named UC Merced’s Fourth Chancellor
The University of California Board of Regents this week approved Dr. Juan Sánchez Muñoz’s appointment as UC Merced’s fourth chancellor. Muñoz comes to UC from the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD), where he has served as president since 2017. The Bay Area Council extends its heartiest congratulations to Dr. Muñoz.
The Council has been proud to partner with UC Merced to support its expansion and the growing role the university is playing as an economic engine for the Central Valley. Research by the Bay Area Council Economic Institute served as a foundation for the university’s decision to use a public private partnership (P3) model in building its campus. And UC Merced has played a key role in our work to create a long-term vision for the growth of the Northern California megaregion. Muñoz will assume his role as UC Merced’s new chancellor in early July. Read more about Dr. Muñoz >>
