Founded in August 2008 and based in San Francisco, Airbnb is a trusted community marketplace for people to list, discover and book unique accommodations around the world – online or from a mobile phone. Airbnb connects people to unique travel experiences, at any price point, in more than 34,000 cities and over 190 countries. Simply put, Airbnb allows anyone to belong anywhere. The platform helps strangers see a city as a local does and lets hosts become ambassadors for the communities they love, using communication, payment and trusted tools to empower users around the world. Airbnb has worked with cities around the country both to create common sense approaches that support home sharing and allow our community to pay their fair share. For instance, in San Francisco, they are generating more than $1 million a month in taxes and nearly $500 million in economic development for the city.
