Council Condemns Latest Anti-Asian Violence
Another in a series of violent attacks against Asians left two San Francisco women seriously injured this week when a knife-wielding assailant slashed them as they waited on the street for a bus. It was the most recent in a surge of anti-Asian violence that has swept across the region and the nation over the past year. The Bay Area Council strongly condemns this most recent attack and all racially motivated violence and hatred.
Council CEO Jim Wunderman this morning made that point clear when he joined a discussion hosted by the CalAsian Chamber, National ACE and California Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus on the horrific rise in anti-Asian violence and what can be done to stop it. A video unveiled at the event highlighted some of the ways bystanders can safely provide support when attacks occur. The Council has been working to elevate racial equity across our policy areas, highlighting diverse voices through our communications and advocating for increasing diversity in company boardrooms and executive offices through our partnership with the Silicon Valley Leadership Group on its Pledge25x25 initiative.
